Mosaic hires Texas BTR operations lead

AuBuchon joins from notable build-to-rent developer NexMetro Communities.

Mosaic, a residential construction service proptech, today announced hiring Kyle AuBuchon to manage the company’s expansion into Texas, according to a press release.

The company says the AuBuchon’s hiring coincides with plans to hire additional staff as they grow their regional presence.

Mosaic says in the role as Regional Director of Operations in Texas, he will oversee management and oversight of build-out processes for new and existing communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) market, including customer and trade relationships and scheduling of development sites.

AuBuchon previously worked as a Lead Builder of Houston-based David Weekley Homes, and most recently acted as Development Manager for single-family Build-to-Rent (BTR) developer NexMetro Communities in Arizona, Colorado, Florida and Texas.

The company says that AuBuchon’s previous BTR experience is important for the company, noting that its research shows BTR communities experience lease rates over at five times the speed of Class A multi-family apartment projects in cities like Phoenix.

“Kyle’s in-depth BTR development and construction experience will set him up for success as he leads our Texas expansion,” stated Ron Gonski, Mosaic VP of Growth, in the release. “He has a proven ability to identify and solve the upstream challenges of residential construction, then bring high-value communities to life. We’re proud to have him join our team during this pivotal growth phase.”

Mosaic also noted that more than 6,700 new BTR homes were constructed last year, and said that developers expect more than 16,000 units to be build for rental purposes in 2022. It’s no surprise that the largest builder of these BTR projects is AuBuchon’s previous company NexMetro Communities.

This hire and the recent addition of Rod Horn as Regional Director of Operations for Arizona follow’s Mosaic’s recent Series B, which had participation from notable venture capital firms including Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Peak State Ventures, Building Ventures, Founders Fund, 8VC and Greylock Partners.

The company also stated plans to expand to Colorado, Southern California and additional markets later this year.

“I’m proud to join Mosaic — as one of the most exciting construction technology startups in the residential development industry, Mosaic plays a leading role in homebuilding technology innovation.” said AuBuchon. “I really admire the experienced team they’ve built and their commitment to empowering homebuilders and developers to rapidly scale their business and deliver even higher-quality communities. I’m excited to start this next chapter of my career growing Mosaic’s presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.”

In other recent proptech news, Built Technologies announced launching their contractor management and project monitoring solution for lenders, Project Pro. Bethea Consulting also launched its new property damage assessment solution.
